My First OLASTEO Excursion

The Local Los Angeles excursion was a fun and fantastic experience that I am so grateful to have participated in as a first-time OLASTEO scholar. While the activities made the trip incredibly interesting, the people I met along the way made this day-long excursion special. My fellow students were some of the smartest and most fun people, and we all had a great time experiencing all the different activities together.

Visiting Echo Park Lake and paddling the Swan Boats was one of my favorite things from the excursion. At first, I was very nervous to participate, as it was something I had never done before. After sorting into smaller groups, getting our life vests, and listening to a safety message, we got on to our swan boats, and it was absolutely amazing. As it turned from day to night, the lake got even more beautiful and dreamlike. It was a scene from a movie, with all of Downtown LA’s lights shining like stars in the distance.

Dinner and karaoke at The Venue was the perfect ending to our day together. Not only was the food super good, but we got to perform together and watch each other perform our favorite songs. I was able to chat more and bond with the new friends I made during the excursion, making long-lasting memories together.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed the OLASTEO Los Angeles Local Excursion and am grateful for those who helped make this amazing adventure possible. I was exposed to so many new experiences in my home city that I would never have had the opportunity to experience otherwise. I hope to participate in future OLASTEO excursions to continue learning more about the world around me.
